Xuacu Amieva's book was on clearance a year and a half ago, so I'm not sure it went over well in Asturias.

I've got the book but haven't spent much time with it yet. It's very thin. It does come with a disk, though, so (if I recall correctly) you can hear the tunes and ornamentation. That does help!

I've heard Xuacu play several times. He's excellent, and seems to be a generous person. In fact, he was one of the people who worked to save the Asturian gaita and traditional music from extinction. That alone makes him an extraordinarily good person in my book!

And another ebay find - not sure of the provenance but may be a good buy for someone.

Spanish-made Gaita Bagpipe

Very good starting price, I have no idea of the maker or the quality, looks nice though.

Yeah, I've been watching that one. I also sent messages to the seller in an attempt to identify the maker and key, but have gotten no replies yet.

Let us know what you hear back. I wonder if it is one of those "tourist" gaitas from the 70's with a rubber innertube bag.
