A friend of mine has a second hand 20 year old gaita, which we would like to identify. The maker's name on the chanter and on the stock of the roncon appears tp be "BHSADRE LUGO" The gaita had a rubber bag, a roncon and punteiro. The punteiro is about 2 cm longer than my gaita en Do. Would it be a Bb? Has anybody heard of BHSADRE LUGO?

Dear John:

Maybe time has eat a part of the letter, but it´s BASADRE from Guntin, Lugo, a famous maker which has made a lot of gaitas for the pipers of the zone. He was famous because their gaitas has a drone bell with a barrel form.

If you can, send me photos of this bagpipe and I will try to get more information, because there are two BASADRES in the family, and It´s bery interesting to know if it´s the older or the younger.

I was surfing online and found the site of a gaita maker in the US:

http://ramosjgaitas.com/

Does anyone know of this gaita maker? He has some photos but I don't have a good eye yet for what to look for. I wonder how they sound?

Looks nice enough to me, I too wonder how they sound - have you contacted him yet? I wonder if he makes his own reeds or uses off the shelf ones, I also wonder about what reed he uses in his practice chanters.

Hi everybody
Do you have any experience with http://www.gaitagallega.es/en/buy-a-bag ... aitas.html, or http://www.tununtunumba.com/gaitas-gallegas.asp ?
Are the cheaper options worth anything to start with?
