Reed cap

Post by anima » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:31 pm

I made a reed cap out of a piece of PVC pipe, and a nylon screw (I used a tap to thread the pipe).

Protects the reed when the chanter is out of the pipe and circulates air to keep it from getting moldy.

If you put a PVC cap on it, then you'll never lose the payuela. But if you do that, you'll also want to drill a 1/16" hole in the body so that the reed doesn't grow mold.
