Thanksgiving hymn tunes on gaita galega

Hi, All.

Here in the United States we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving day. There are many hymn tunes that are sung for this traditional holiday, and as someone who also plays Great Highland Bagpipes, I have been disappointed to find that only a very few of them are playable on the GHB. But I found that many more are quite playable in the range of the gaita galega, which I have been trying to learn, although it is a slow process for me. So with all due apologies for my own inadequacies in playing, here are some cross-cultural offerings on the gaita galega:

Come, ye thankful people, come: http://youtu.be/sUNiGXIF0fA
We gather together: http://youtu.be/QdBZ9WjM7zQ

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Mark

I just joined a few weeks ago and found your posting. Do you happen to have the sheet notation for those pieces? I cannot play "by ear".

These two hymns are in the public domain and you can find the sheet music here:

http://www.music-folk-play-hymns.com/

"We gather together" is in the Key of C (Do)
"Come ye thankful people come" is in the Key of G (Sol)

I don't really play by ear either but I've learned to transpose some music that fits with my gaita. Hope this helps!
