Bulgarian Kaval and Gaida For Sale

Postby naadbrahma » Fri Apr 19, 2013 2:19 pm

I have a pair of fantastic instruments for sale by master maker Radoslav Paskalev. The first is a kaval in D made in blackwood, delrin mounts, with pull pewter(lead free) inlays. It's a screamer across the whole range and has the best kaba I have ever heard; a true masterpiece of an instrument. $375
I also have a very nice kaba gaida, a rarity in that it is made of solid brown dryan wood. Dryan wood is the holy grail of gaida woods, nothing sounds quite like it. This gaida is in G, but it also has an extra gaidanitsa in D, and extra ruchillo in D. The mounts are of imitation horn(much strong and more bug proof than real horn). It's a very powerful gaida but it has all the sweetness one could desire. It's a direct copy of a very nice vintage Kolyo gaida. It comes with extra reed bodies and can for making drone reeds. You'll never find a gaida as nice as this one. $725

Is your gaita still for sale? Kaba gaida? Pictures look more like a djura.
thanks.

It is a djura gaida (or basically two of them...), AFAIK still for sale, and probably the best quality of workmanship available worldwide.

Yes it's a djura gaida, not sure why I put otherwise. It has that great classic powerful but sweet sound due to the wood it's made out of. I'm not fond of the abrasive qualities of blackwood, it's way too harsh for my ears.
