Sac de Gemecs and Gaita Sanabresa

Post by ethnopiper » Thu Oct 25, 2012 8:11 am

Hi, i am new to the forum, so i want to mention I play 2 types of Iberian gaita besides the Galician. The first one i got in December 2011, it is from the area of Zamora and its name is the Gaita Sanabresa, but it is more like the chanter from Aliste. it plays in Bb, has 1 octave and it plays in a minor scale. I have been taking classes in it and it has a lovely different sound to the other major key chanters in iberia.
my 2nd gaita is the Sac de Gemecs, i got this in January 2012. it plays in Do major and has 3 drones (do, sol, Do) . it has 1 octave and can get limited semi-tones. i can not over-blow any of these chanters, but there are lots of melodies so no need to try.
